This has been a long time coming, but the digital painting of Michonne is complete. For a first in depth digital painting, Michonne may have been a bit ambitious. Some of you are probably saying, “what does he mean first in depth digital painting? What about Iron Man?”. Yes I did complete an Iron Man digital painting, but I started work on Michonne well before that project. Unfortunately, I think that is one of the reasons I am a bit disappointed with this painting.

When I took that break to paint Iron Man, I learned a lot of things such as a better work flow, new painting methods and better time management. Going back to the to Michonne, felt like going back to work on a kindergarden drawing. Maybe not that drastic but kind of. Despite my frustration, I powered through and finished the painting. Disappointment or not, It was my first painting and I learned a lot from it. I’ve already started a new painting and in two days I am further along then I was on Michonne after a month. More on that later, but for now here is the final painting of Michonne.

I’ve also included this animated gif that shows the progression of the painting. I think I will start including these on all final pieces so you can get a look at my process.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for my digital paintings. Leave me some comments below and have a great weekend!
