rain barrel update #3

ART Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Finally!!!

It’s been a long time in the making, but the rain barrel is finally complete. It’s on display now, but the big event is on April 18th during the Cincinnati’s Zoo’s Party for the Planet. After a reception for the participants of the project, the barrels will be moved out on display in the Zoo’s “Go Green Garden”.  At that time the barrels will be part of a silent auction. For more information about the event, please visit http://cincinnatizoo.org.

Kara and I are really excited about the completion of this project. Since its inception, its been a great way for us to combine our interests and create something together. We worked really hard on it and would love for people to see it in person, so if you can, visit the Zoo on the 18th and check it out! I got a bit of a sneak peak at some of the other barrels when I dropped ours off last week and they look great. You don’t want to miss it.

Okay, enough of the yapping, time for pictures! Here is a look at the completed barrel.

I also chose to show you the barrel from an angle, because it shows off the dimensional effect we were going for.

And here is a look at the evolution of the barrel from start to finish.

Now that this thing is complete and I have some time again, I can get back to other artwork. I have a lot of stuff in the works, so check back for updates and check out all the Rain Barrels at the Cincinnati Zoo’s Party for the Planet on April 18th.

Thanks. I found out Sandra Federman (Mrs. Fowler as we knew her best) and her students painted rain barrels as well. Looking forward to seeing them all on the 18th.

I wish I could go the 18th but I already have dinner plans with my grandparents. But have fun and maybe post pictures of all of the barrels and tulips :)
